With the help of Academy Ballroom Cumberland's dance program, you can delight your guests with that first dance, as well as create a special memory of a perfect moment together. Our experienced wedding specialists will provide dance instruction for you in a comfortable atmosphere and relaxed setting and, almost like being in your own living room.

When your lesson is over, or before the next one begins, you can practice your dance steps on our floor. In addition to your first dance instruction, we can also include music consultation, guided practices, choreography, as well as group and private dance lessons for the wedding party. We take every detail into consideration such as music selection, the appropriate dance style, floor size, style of gown, shoes, etc.

Many of our couples have found that learning to dance has helped relieve other tensions and stresses that come with the demands of planning your wedding. Our couples look forward to their dance lessons, and many have continued dancing well beyond their wedding day!

Some Dance and Wedding Tips from the Experts

• Don't wait until the last minute, the earlier you start you dance lessons the better. Remember that your schedule will get very hectic as your wedding day approaches. Dance instructors recommend starting between four to six months before the big day to allow more time for practice, especially if you are a newcomer to dancing. • Remember that dance lessons can actually be a stress reliever. As you go through the stress of your wedding preparations the dancing lessons are going to be a welcome release. Not only is dancing is good exercise and lessons pull you out of the hustle and bustle of the day to spend an hour or so with your intended, having fun and working together productively at the same time. You will find that after each lesson you have made progress and feel more and more prepared for that first dance!
  
  
• Besides the Waltz and other traditional dances, the Tango, Mambo, Salsa, Swing and even the Hustle are all popular at weddings today for a first dance. If you plan to dance to a special song at your wedding reception, feel free to bring a recording of your music to your dance lessons so you can work on your first dance directly with your instructor.

• The worst thing that can happen is you are introduced for your first dance, the one you have practiced over and over as Mr. & Mrs. and you realize you can't move the same as you did in practice because of your wedding dress.

To get started all you need to do is either call or email us with a convenient time for your first appointment. This can be scheduled anytime Mon.-Fri., 10am-10pm and Sat. 10am-6pm. We will have unique specials for our first time students that are designed to help ease you in and come up with a game plan that works for both partners so the dance is fun and exciting rather than it becoming stressful .
